Since my photo went up on the featured spot, I thought I would explain a little more about it.
I didn’t want you to think that they had to make a door that fit into that pointy arch.
The frame wall is set back 2′-10″ from the log wall and goes all the way to the roof.
There is a settling detail at the roof line. Since there is no roof bearing on this wall,
the space can be opened up nicely with glazing if desired and/or an 8′ high door
with a transume to bring the light in.
I am showing stone in the upper portion of the wall
but there could be glazing up in there for an interesting view
from the inside out toward the log work and the sky beyond.
